**TODAY is HAT DAY!!!!
We are Learning About:
Reading: Read 20 minutes daily. Finish filling in the April Reading Log then turn it in at the next “Drop-Off” Day on Wednesday, May 6th. Come either at 9-11am or 4-6pm. I will be at the 4-6pm time, so please come then if you are able. I LOVE seeing your Kindergartner & talking with you, parents!
Phonics/Groves: Please make sure your child is watching the lesson videos of the “Rhyming” or “Groves.” Phonics. The children need to be “acting” (hand gestures) out what we do together & saying the things I tell them too. Also, doing the work in the workbook along with me. Use the “pause” button on your computer to stop the video so that your child has time to write.
Writing: Your child should be writing one-two stories each week. Use the brown book that says, “Writing” on it. They should only use pencil (even for the picture), and they should only be given at the most two minutes to draw the picture. Remind your child they should use a capital at the beginning of the sentence and there should be a period at the end of the sentence. Also, they should have a “finger space” between each word. Parents, you are NOT aloud to spell any words for them. They should “tap” out the word and “stretch” it out, then write the word as they hear the sounds. They know how to do this.
Math: We are working on Topic 15: Calendar. Vocabulary: calendar, month, year, date, season, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, yesterday, today, tomorrow, temperature, hot, cold, thermometer.
Religion: We will learn about ”Faith and Trust.”
Humanities: We will learn about, “Later New Kingdom.”
Science: Please have your child watch one or two videos each week on the Scholastic site (below). Make sure your child is clicking on the comprehension questions, etc.
Star of the Day
One student (puppet) will be the “Star of the Day.” They will get to help with the morning calendar routine!
Memory/Sight Words
Memory/Sight words are words we find in every sentence we read. Students must know these words to be able to read a sentence. Students should memorize these words, NOT sound them out. Please practice these words every day, both reading them and spelling them.
