Star of the Week for October  21, 2019

Kaleb H.

A couple of times a month we will have a Star of the Week student in our classroom. This entitles the student to be the line-leader, to lead the morning calendar routine, to share/tell all about him/herself by filling in a poster. This will come home about a week or so before they are the star. A letter will also be included with the poster explaining all the special things the student will have an opportunity to do.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for sending your child/ren to St. Jerome School. I look forward to each day with your child to work with them on their academics, spirituality, emotions, life skills, and more! I am so blessed to be here at St. Jerome with your children!! They mean the world to me! THANK YOU!!

Conferences

The White folder that went home yesterday had your scheduled time slot for each child’s conference. Conferences are Monday & Tuesday, October 14 & 15 from 4-8pm. I value you as your child’s first teacher & want to partner with you to make your child shine! I am your child’s Kindergarten teacher & I value the time I spend with your child helping them to learn. But, without YOU (parents), I could not do this alone. Together, WE can help your child be the best he/she can be!! I am looking forward to meeting with each of you at Conferences!!

Memory/Sight Words:

Memory/Sight words are words we find in every sentence we read. Students must know these words to be able to read a sentence. Students should memorize these words, NOT sound them out. Please practice these words every day, both reading them and spelling them. Here are the first four Memory/Sight words:

a, I, to, the, in, it, is, at, as, on, and, you, be, of, we, for

Prayer Booklet

I sent home a small, white prayer booklet with each of your children about a week ago. It contains the prayers we will learn this Kindergarten year here at school. Please put it in a prominent place that is seen by all and use it daily! This will help your child learn the prayers and God will bestow graces upon you and your family when said together! What more could you ask for??

Did You Know?

St. Jerome School requires at least 15 hours of volunteer time from each family? It helps keep the school going strong and shares the load. So, if you are ready to volunteer for some of your 15 hours, then contact the office at 651-771-8494 and they can let you know what those opportunities for volunteering are.

Rake-A-Thon

The Rake-a-Thon is a way for St. Jerome School to earn money for books, Field Trips, and materials needed in the classroom. ALL students should participate. Students should collect $$ money from family members-Grandparents, parents, cousins, Aunts & Uncles, friends, neighbors, etc. then bring the $$ money into school. On Friday, October 25th the entire school will go out into the neighborhood and rake lawns for those people unable to do this themself. This is a way we can give back to our community and earn money for our school. We ask that each student bring in whatever amount of $$ money they can-$1.00 or $100.00 dollars-whatever they are able. We are counting on 100% participation! If we get 100% participation, then we will get to play Turkey Bingo with all the students at St. Jerome!! And if our class has 100% participation, then we will get something special just for our classroom! (The Kindergarten students voted to have Ice Cream if everyone from our class participates!!) So, please have your child collect & bring in whatever amount of $$ money they can to help our school. THANK YOU!

Scholastic Book Orders:

The October book flyers were sent home in your child’s Take-Home folder yesterday.  Orders are due by Oct. 24th. If you would like to place an order; the easiest way to do so is online. Use code RGVYW. If you would rather fill in your order using the flyer, please send it back to school with your child and with a check or cash (in an envelope marked “Scholastic Book Order”) for the total amount due. THANK YOU!!

Harvest Meal 2019

The Harvest Meal is an evening shared with other families from our school eating a meal together. Every family that comes (and please bring all: parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents etc.) brings a meal that your family loves—enough for 10-12 people. Let’s celebrate the love and blessings of our St. Jerome community!!
