Star of the Week for October 28, 2019
Naw Say
A couple of times a month we will have a Star of the Week student in our classroom. This entitles the student to be the line-leader, to lead the morning calendar routine, to share/tell all about him/herself by filling in a poster. This will come home about a week or so before they are the star. A letter will also be included with the poster explaining all the special things the student will have an opportunity to do.
Parent Focus Group
Mrs. Gattman is looking for parents of St. Jerome School to participate in a Focus Group with the Healey Education Foundation on Tuesday, November 5th from 9:30-11am. They would like to know parents’ perceptions of leadership, enrollment, marketing, and finances. The information will be used to set course for the next years to come. Please call the school at 771-8494 to be apart of this!!
Conferences
Thank you for the time we had together discussing your child’s amazing progress!! I am so proud of all the Kindergarteners! They have really come far in such a short amount of time. Keep Up the hard work. Please continue to work on the Memory/Sight Words, Math homework and vocabulary, reading to your child, and saying the prayers. You are helping your child grow academically when you work at home with him/her. THANK YOU!
Memory/Sight Words:
Memory/Sight words are words we find in every sentence we read. Students must know these words to be able to read a sentence. Students should memorize these words, NOT sound them out. Please practice these words every day, both reading them and spelling them.
a, I, to, the, in, it, is, at, as, on, and, you, be, of, we, for, if, do, he, she
Halloween
We will celebrate Halloween with a Halloween Parade-Your child may come to school wearing their costume over their gym uniform. We will parade through the school after morning announcements then return to our classroom where they will take their costume off. After lunch/recess we will have a Halloween Party! You may send in a treat for all to share if you would like. There are 18 students and 2 teachers!!
Reminder
School begins at 9:30am. If your child is later than this, they must go to the office to sign in since lunch and attendance have already been taken. They are considered Tardy if they come in after 9:30am. so please do your best to be on time! Students that take the bus are not marked late since they have no control over this. Breakfast is FREE for all Kindergarten students. Breakfast begins at 9am and goes until 9:15, again unless your child is a bus rider, then they may eat when the bus arrives at SJS.
At the end of the day, if you are picking up your child from school, please wait outside for us to come out of the building. We do have a routine to follow right up until the end of the day, and it throws us off when we are disrupted. If you are picking up your child before the end of the school day, you MUST go to the office first to sign them out. Then the office will call me so that I can send your child to meet you in the office. Thank you!
Rake-A-Thon
Thank you to all that contributed to our Rake-a-Thon. This money goes toward books, field trips, and materials needed in the classroom here at school. We couldn’t have done it without YOU. So, THANK YOU!
