Important Information!!

TOMORROW!!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 8th, will be the Pick-Up & Drop-Off day from 9-11am and 4-6pm. Please make sure you come during one of these times to pick up your child’s materials for learning. We will begin using these materials right away and I don’t want your child to be left out. Thank you!

Also, when you come please bring with you all work your child has completed. Math sheets, March Reading Log, story writing, sight word sheets, etc. You do NOT need to bring the “Groves” white & yellow book since your child will need that to continue using it. Make sure your child has his/her name on ALL papers. Please save everything your child does!! I will need to see these!! THANK YOU!

We are Learning About:

Reading: Read 20 minutes daily. Keep filling in the April Reading Log each day, then at the end of April, you can turn it in to me. Thank you.

Phonics/Groves: Please make sure your child is watching the lesson videos of the “Rhyming” or “Groves.” Phonics. The children need to be “acting” (hand gestures) out what we do together & saying the things I tell them too.

Math: Continue using the math sheets I sent home on Monday, Mar. 16th: Topics 1, 2, 3, & 6. We will begin Topic 14 after you come to pick up the next round of materials for your child this Wednesday, April 8th.

Writing: Your child should be writing one-two stories each week. They should only use pencil (even for the picture), and they should only be given at the most two minutes to draw the picture. Remind your child they should use a capital at the beginning of the sentence and there should be a period at the end of the sentence. Also, they should have a “finger space” between each word. Parents, you are NOT aloud to spell any words for them. They should “tap” out the word and “stretch” it out, then write the word as they hear the sounds. They know how to do this.

Religion: We will learn about ”Easter Sunday.”

Humanities: We will learn about “The Ten Commandments.”

Science: Please have your child watch one or two videos each week on the Scholastic site (below). Make sure your child is clicking on the comprehension questions, etc.

On Tuesday, March 7th, Doug, from Mystery Science, is doing a 20-minute show.

In case you missed it, Doug (From Mystery Science) is inviting students into his home for a 20-minute science show. He’ll answer real kids’ questions about the current situation we’re all dealing with, as well as share a few fun surprises.

Teachers, make this part of your lesson plan for Tuesday! If you haven't already shared this with families, forward this email to invite them.

Star of the Day

You will have to tune-in each day to see who is the Star! That “person” (puppet) will help me with the morning calendar routine!

Memory/Sight Words

Memory/Sight words are words we find in every sentence we read. Students must know these words to be able to read a sentence. Students should memorize these words, NOT sound them out. Please practice these words every day, both reading them and spelling them.
